يقولون إنّ تغيّر العناصر إنّما يكون باجتماعها وتفرّقها، فأمّا أبقراط فليس يقول إنّ تغيّر الأسطقسّات يكون باجتماعها وتفرّقها لكن بالحرارة والبرودة والرطوبة واليبوسة، ولذلك جعل المحقّق لأنواع العناصر والمثبت لها هذه الكيفيّات، ولذلك سمّي العناصر الحارّ والبارد والرطب واليابس.
