وهي معتدلة حلوة المذاق تغذو الأبدان بمنزلة ما هو مخالط منها للدم، وذلك لأنّ كلّ غذاء فهو حلو من قبل أنّ جميع الأعضاء حلوة الطعم، وهذه الأخلاط المخالطة للدم نحن نسمّيها مرّة صفراء وسوداء وبلغم، ومنها خارجة عن الطبع، وهي إفراطات تلك الكيفيّات الملائمة للطبع، وما كان كذلك فليس يغذو، بل يدفع ويخرج عن البدن بمنزلة الشيء المنافر، ومتی احتبس أضرّ بالبدن وأفسده، وليس من هذا شيء له حلاوة، بل المرّة الصفراء من هذا الجنس مرّة والسوداء حامضة عفصة، والبلغم حامض أو مالح.
(٤٨) وإذا وقع الدم في الأرحام أو المنی ميّزته الطبيعة فصار ما هو منه غليظ بارد يابس مائل إلی السوداء مادّة لكون العظام وما هو منه بارد رطب بلغميّ مادّة لكون الدماغ وما هو منه أشدّ حرارة ورطوبة مادّة لكون اللحم وما هو منه أشدّ حرارة ويبساً مادّة لكون الرئة.
